On 2nd March 2015, Governor Zhu Xiaodan met with Vice President Walter Theodor Czarnetzki and Wilhelm-August Buckermann of Hochschule Esslingen University of Applied Sciences, to discuss about the matters of cooperation in running college.

     Mr. Zhu Xiaodan expressed warmly welcome to the two German guests. He pointed out that Hochschule Esslingen University of Applied Sciences was a representative of higher vocational university in Germany. To cooperate with Guangdong University of Technology and to build up a dual and vocational university in Jieyang will be the first schooling project in Guangdong or even in China, which cooperates with foreign applied sciences university. Guangdong is in the key phase of accelerating transformation and upgrading, with severe shortage of high-skilled personnel, such as technical workers, technicians and engineers. He hoped, with German dual and vocational educational mode and experience of industry development, the education concept and schooling mode of the “Dual System” could be transferred to Guangdong; level of higher education in our province could be gradually improved; more high-tech and high-skilled talents could be cultivated for the industry transformation of our province. With the effort of both sides, base of industry application R&D and cooperation could be built, to act as a demonstration role in Guangdong and even China, to become the spot of Sino-German cooperation. Provincial government would mobilize all the possible forces to promote the schooling project.

     Walter Theodor Czarnetzki highly praised the idea and method in promoting higher vocational education. He expressed that dual and vocational education is promising; Hochschule Esslingen University of Applied Sciences would cherish this opportunity, constantly explore more cooperation fields and participate more activities in Guangdong’s industry upgrading, to promote Sino-German industrial cooperation and development.
