——Invested with RMB 3 billion, Berlin Mayor to bring in more German enterprises for park co-construction

    A stone-setting ceremony for the Sino-German Resources Regeneration Base, with an investment of RMB 3 billion,was held on May 31^st. During the visit to Guangdong, Berlin Mayor Klaus Wowereit, president of the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry and of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry BerlinDr. Eric Schweitzer led a German business delegation to attend the ceremony.

    The project was signed under the witness of Chinese President Xi Jinping and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, which is the only environmental protection one of the ten Sino-German economic cooperation projects.

    Klaus Wowereit was invited by secretary of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee Hu Chunhua to come to Guangdong. He expressed that it is exciting to see the cooperation achievement within a year after the efficient exchange with Hu in Berlin about bilateral in-deep cooperation last July. He also said, it’s sincere and practical for Guangdong to strengthen the cooperation with German.

    After the visit to construction site of Sino-German Metal Eco City, the German special guests earthed up the foundation stonefor Sino-German Resources Regeneration Basewith Chinese partners, and witnessed another three cooperative agreements.

    The project is co-constructed by ZhongDe Metal Group Co., Ltd., Guangdong Rising Assets Management Co., Ltd. and German ALBA Group, which is to become the first center for metal and electronica products recycling.It adopts the closed operation of ecological development, for carrying out the treatment of scraped cars, E-waste, household refuse, hazard junk and discardednon-ferrous metals. Sino-German Metal Eco City is to become the Guangdong waste treatment distributing center and the China third-generation household waste treatment demonstration plot. And it is to achieve the resources recycling and ecological effect.   

    Klaus Wowereit fully appreciated Sino-German Metal Eco City which is a modernized, sustainable and ecological technology park and a good model of Sino-German cooperation. He holds that Jieyang has shown admirable determination and efforts during the project execution. And he hopes more German enterprises could participate in the park construction, deepen the bilateral friendly relationship and make the project succeed.

    According to Dr. Eric Schweitzer, the idea that upgrading the traditional industry to ecological park is remarkable. Furthermore,the aggregation ofR&D, vocational education, environment protection and other resources will promote the development of the whole industrial chain to a large extent. He expressed that he would introduce more and more German enterprises to settle in the park, and provide full support for the development of dual-system vocational education.
