German expert Maier comes to Jieyang for Sino-German Metal Eco-City

Maier offers recommendations for improvement of steel tapesresearched and developed by Rongshen company

 

  Jieyang RongShen Brand Tape Co., Ltd. is located in Rongcheng District of Jieyang (hereinafter referred to as Rongshen Company). The atmosphere of the factory has become quite different as usual recently as not only the staffs have high enthusiasm in their work but also people pay much attention to an important person.

 

  Recently an important foreign guest, German senior expert and engineer Helmut Maier have come to Rongshen Company. Helmut Maier makes a deep impression on people by his advanced technical experience and strict working style and brings a brainstorm in concepts and technology.

 

    Coming to the enterprise as soon as arriving at Jieyang.

 

    Mr. Maier is neatly dressed with smiles,easy-going while conscientious towards his work,which impress the staffs of the company very much.

 

  Why such a senior German expert comes to the enterprise of Jieyang, in such a less developed area? Maier traveled thousands of miles to Jieyang because of Sino-German Metal Eco-City. The project not only has significance in promoting the industry transformation and upgrading, but also represents the results of the increasingly closer cooperation between China and German. He hopes to make his contribution to the cooperation of both sides.

 

  President of the MEUJ Wu Kedong tells the reporter that Germany is a global manufacturing powerhouse, and has advanced experience in industrial manufacturing and modern management of enterprises, which is what the development of the Jieyang enterprises and industry need most. As  the construction of Sino-German Metal Eco-City speeds up, Jieyang expandsits cooperation with German as well, and it is one of the aspects that cooperating with German senior experts. The MEUJ plans to introduce 20 German retired engineers for Jieyang manufacturing enterprises to provide guidance and support in enterprise management, technology introduction and technique improvement.

 

  Maier has been to China for several times, being cooperating with some large enterprises in the north. This time he goes to Jieyang in the south, and he is surprised that the medium-size and small enterprises in Jieyang are energetic, which is similar to German. “In Germany, it is most medium-size and small enterprises that support the whole market economy. Compared with the large enterprises whose structures have been solidified, the medium-size and small enterprises have boundless flexibility, plasticity, potential and vigorous vitality. Numerous medium-size and small enterprises in Jieyang are ready to pursue progress, which is very important for enterprises.” Maier says happily.

 

  After meeting with Jieyang entrepreneurs in metal industry, Maier really appreciated their spirit of “dare to think dare to do” and the action of cooperating with each other. He expresses that he is willing to introduce German technology experience and management mode to Jieyang and help Jieyang’s enterprises to grow stronger step by step.

 

  As the first enterprise that has the opportunity to obtain guidance from German experts, all staffs in Rongshen are excited at the arrival of Maier and moved by that he comes to give guidance as soon as he gets to Jieyang. Vicepresident of the MEUJ, CEO of Rongshen Company Sun Genghao expresses his thirst after talents in his words, saying that the transformation and upgrading of the metal enterprise cannot be separated from the strong support of professionals. We hope to learn the essence of German technology and management, further improve the technology and optimize process. Sun thinks that with technology guidance of German experts, the enterprises can avoid detours in technique improvement, improve efficiency and staff benefits, and therefore have a healthy development.

 

  Striving for excellence in technology, having happy talks with the experienced engineers

 

  Since the arrival to Jieyang on Nov.11th, Maier goes to work on time as other staffs, and have quickly learnt about the process, the product positioning, the distribution of staffs and the equipment.

 

  The main products in Rongshen company are steel tapes, and the accuracy of their scale reaches the first rank of national standard. And the relevant printing technology is also leading in China. However, Maier thinks that no matter for an industry or for an enterprise, the advance of technology is limitless, and that only by striving for excellence in technology can the enterprise strive in the competition. The metal industrial foundation in Jieyang is strong, and the products are of high quality. But the market competition is fierce, as the competitors are making progress, therefore the enterprises should have the courage to pursue creation and breakthrough.

 

  In the communication with Maier, factory manager of Rongshen Company Li Hongbin, and head of the engineering technical research and development department Liao Wenshao are surprised to find that most ideas of Maier are brief and to the point.He can point out the advantages and disadvantages of the company’s technology, and provide effective measures and resources.

 

  “Maier introduces many advanced technology that China currently doesn’t possess, and provides direction for us to break through the bottleneck of technology. For example, he put forward his idea of the accuracy of printing technology, and the insiders know the greatness of his idea.We believe that the German technology will help the products of Rongshen Company to be better.” The experienced engineer says with admiration, who has been studying at the production technology of steel tapes for many years. Because of the common topic,when talking about the key point, the two experts can understand each other and communicate happily even without the help of interpreter.

 

  Maier not only focuses on a single product, but also finds out the biggest problem of the company: the workshop is distributed in every floor for its space limitation, which will lower down the production efficiency. He thinks that an automatic flow production line can completely solve this problem. Knowing that Rongshen Company will enter Sino-German Metal Eco-City and its workshop will be expanded, he set out to help the company redesign and optimize the production line immediately, and to reduce the unnecessary intermediate link.

 

  “If we achieve the goal of machine assembling automation, it will completely change the situation of labor-intensive enterprises.” Li Hongbin is excited when Maier gets involved in the design of the production line.

 

  Getting along well with others and advocating the humanization management

 

    In the second week after his starting to work, Maier wears a white T-shirt instead of his formal suit. General Manager Liu Qiaoying highly appreciates that Mr. Maier is of high team spirit as he takes a great effort to buy the same work clothes with the staffs. His behavior sets up an example and should be treated as a member of the company as well.

 

  Mr. Maier is fond of communicating with the employees and gets along well with the team. With an office near the sale department, he greets the workers there warmly every day and encourages them quite often. To Maier, apart from the technology transformation, a company should lay stress on the management of humanization and refinement.

 

  “For example, the coach of a football team couldn’t simply point out the direction for his members, and it’s far enough for the players to follow the instructions without a second thought. Without the cooperation of each other in a team, nothing can be done even if the players are excellent. So the teamwork and communication should be paid great attention to. As a coach, he should know how to dig out the players’ potential, while the players ought to find a proper way to reach a better performance. Only with the wisdom and efforts of everyone, the team can go further.” Maior says.

 

  Referring to the business management, Mr. Maior makes a difference for the company. He suggests that saving-energy lights should be used to cut the cost of electric charge. When he finds that the professionals place the tools and equipment on the ground and even squat for convenience, he proposes to provide them with a worktable. He says it’s unhealthy to squat for a long time and it will reduce efficiency as well. 

 

  “Maier’s suggestions enlighten me to a large extent,” Sun Genghao says sincerely, “I come to realize that it’s necessary for a boss to find out the needs of the employees and try my best to create a pleasant working environment.”

 

    According to the company’s operation, Mr. Maier speaks highly of Sun’s carefulness and collective spirit. To get along well with the employees, Maier joins the packaging production line in his free time with a hope of solving the practical matters with heart and soul.

 

  Sun Sennan, son of Sun Genghao, responsible for the daily life of the German expert, highly appreciates the German professionalism and acquires lots of beneficial management ideas. “Mr. Maier is pragmatic and rigorous and his instructions are unimaginable,” Sun Sennan says.  

  Do as the local people do and be fond of the local people and dishes

 

  “Jieyang is beautiful, the local people are very nice and the food is delicious,” Maier says during his stay in Jieyang. Although the Chinese culture is different from that of Germany, Marier is adapting to the local life thanks to the considerate reception in the aspects of work environment, business trip, accommodation, meals and translation.  

 

  According to Mr. Maier, everyone here is nice to him, providing him all kinds of dishes and unique Kongfu tea. And he is fond of running along with Yanjiang Road where he makes lots of friends.

 

  Talking about the expectation of the German Expert Service Base, Mr. Maier believes that there must be more experts in the coming days due to the pleasant living environment. In future, his wife can come here to teach the local children while Mr. Maier assists with the entrepreneurs if possible.

 

  According to president of the MEUJ Wu Kedong, the experts can work and live in Jieyang with all-round living environment and services when the German Experts Service Base is accomplished. Mr. Maier is welcomed by the local metal entrepreneurs as the first German expert come to Jieyang. Under the full support of Jieyang Municipal Government, the MEUJ will bring in more German experts who provide knowledge and technology for the development of the local metal enterprises to further promote the transformation and upgrading of the Jieyang metal industry.
