The first domestic dual-system university will be established in Jieyang

Sino-German University of Applied Sciences will cultivate skilled talents for the transformation and upgrading of Jieyang.

At the ceremony held yesterday, largest attention was paid on the plan about co-constructing dual system university with Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences in the park.

Sino-German University of Applied Sciences is situated in the Wisdom Town of Sino-German Metal Eco-City, covering 1500 mu (approx. 100 ha), with a total planned investment of 1 billion RMB and an expected enrollment of 20,000 students. It is invested by Jieyang Municipal Government, the MEUJ and Guangdong Sino-Germen D.S. Education Investment Co., Ltd. under the guidance of government and leadership of association. Being geared to the nation and to the world, the cooperative university aims at cultivating high-level industrial talents and seeking after a new mode of vocational education through bringing in dual-system vocational education system.

Prof. Stengler expressed that Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences is ranked in top five among the German universities. Compared with the traditional colleges, it pays more attention to the practical application. And the doctoral students should go out to work for several years before being as teachers in Darmstadt.

It is known that the German university is non-profit organization. According to the law, Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences could not invest the Sino-German University of Applied Sciences directly or hold shares in the cooperation. The German university is responsible for introducing the German dual-system teaching method and experienced teachers, and for taking Chinese teachers to Germany for further training. After graduation from Sino-German University of Applied Sciences, students can take German examines and get German relevant certificates if certain scores reached, and they can go to Germany for further education after graduation.

Stengler says it is significant for German partner concerning the cooperation. Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences has conducted cooperation with many universities in Beijing and Shanghai in the fields of talents exchange and training. The cooperation will make history if Sino-German University of Applied Sciences is accomplished successfully. Besides, with the development of globalization, the society needs more international talents. Through establishing cooperative university in China, Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences can carry out the higher level internationalization.

Dual System

Dual system began in Germany as a training mode. It means that the trainees should receive two kinds of training; one is vocational education related to professional knowledge, the other is workshop training in certain enterprises or public institutions. This mode is prevailed in German enterprises, taken by some Chinese enterprises in recent several years.
