On Oct. 17^th, Gerlind Heckmann, Division Director of East Asian Economy and Trade Office of German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi), visited Jieyang and paid a special visit to Sino-German Metal Eco-Cityaccompanied by Mayor Chen Dong, Deputy Secretary of Jieyang Municipal Party Committee.

    Gerlind Heckmann investigated the construction site of Sino-German Metal Eco-City, ZhongDe University of Tenology of preparations, service base for German experts and the MEUJ. She also visited the No.1 E-Commerce Junpu Village in Jiedong District, Guangdong Kaisheng Steel Industrial Co., Ltd. and other metal corporations.

    Mayor Chen Dong introduces the development history of metal industryand the achievements in Sino-German cooperation. He saysthat there will be more cooperation between two countries. Jieyang is going to build up friendship with Germany, invite German corporations into Jieyang, cooperate with Germany and develop together. Jieyang will set Sino-German Metal Eco-City as the model of cooperation between China and Germany and make the transformation and upgrading of metal industry to be the motive power for the new development of Jieyang.

    Gerlind Heckmann points out that among the industrial parks in China, Sino-German Metal Eco-City impresses her most. She thinks what makes the project a promising one is the comprehensive and careful planning and preparation in the early stage, the association-leading operating system and the support from the government. She also says that she will offer support for Sino-German Metal Eco-City in three ways. Firstly, push forward the contact between more Germany associations and Jieyang and make Sino-German Metal Eco-City to be the base for German investment; secondly, enhance the advertising of Sino-German Metal Eco-City and organize more German corporations to visit Jieyang and seek for more cooperation; thirdly, make every effort for the cooperation between China and Germany in economy and politics.
